Angelic Glow Drops! Estee Lauder Micro Essence Review

Hey guys!

I hope you are having a fabulous month of May. I recently finished a bottle of the Estee Lauder Micro Essence and I asked on my Instagram if you would want a review, and many of you did so here I am ready to tell you what I think about it! I got it as a gift a from a beauty creator class I did a while back, but I have no direct sponsorship with Estee Lauder so I will be plain and honest, as usual! Shall we?

Packaging

The bottle is shaped like a Toblerone chocolate box that tapers down (do like that description? LoL.) It’s made of glass, so it has some weight. The glass is also frosted so it has that luxurious feel to it and it comes with a plastic gold spin-off cap, which I think kind of clashes with the luxurious look. Also, the inside of the cap can get a bit gunky so give it a wipe here and then.

Key Features, Ingredients, and Texture

This essence is said to reveal your skin’s ‘youthful, angelic glow’. Who doesn’t want that? So how does that work… First, it is micro targeted meaning that it penetrates deeply and rapidly within skin’s surface to renew and re-balance. It is micro nourishing because it delivers a precise concentration of exclusive Micro-Nutrient Bio-Ferment to nourish and energize. Lastly, it is micro active because it activates multiple natural pro-youth abilities to replenish skin.

The ingredients list is not bad, lots of skin conditioning ingredients like butylene glycol, betaine, pentylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, as well as trehalose. The fermented ingredient is Lactobacillus Ferment. For those of you who don’t know fermented ingredients can help with various skin troubles such as dryness, pigmentation, fine lines, and help with anti-aging.

The texture if almost like water but it is a little more viscous and has more slip and doesn’t dry off as quickly. There is no fragrance other than a tinge of fermented sourness. The smell is not as bad as SK2, that one on an off day smells so bad to me.

last remaining angelic glow drops!

My Thoughts and Mini Comparison

After finishing the whole bottle, I have to say that I miss using it! After cleansing I would pat this all over and it would make my skin feel so soft and smooth. Over time I felt my skin more hydrated and prepped for my other serums and creams. Also, because it isn’t as watery like the SK2 it was perfect for my dry skin. It didn’t leave a sticky feeling either. The IOPE Bio Essence skin conditioner has the consistency between EL and SK2. This one absorbed much faster than the Micro Essence. For me I really liked the Micro Essence much more than I did SK2. The SK2 had a tingly feeling every time I put it on, and one time I put it on as a cotton pad mask and my skin flipped out and got very red. With the Micro Essence there weren’t any problems. However, I am still on the fence about trying the Pitera essence one more time, it’s just so damn expensive. The Bio Essence was okay nothing amazing, but much more budget friendly than the EL and SK2.

The pricing –

Conclusion

Yes, I would totally recommend this to anyone! I didn’t have any irritation or flare-ups while using it and the results are really good. I don’t think I’ll buy it at full Korean price, so if I can find on sale I am ready to swipe my card. I am also thinking of purchasing the Su:m37 Secret Programming Essence and the MISSHA Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence.

What are your favorite first treatment essences?

Oil Serums to Try This Fall/Winter

Hey guys! I’ve been in search for some new products to try this fall/winter season. The trend these days seem to be oil serums. I love the idea of these because I love using oils and serums are bees knees in your skincare routine. So here’s a list I’ve compiled of some of the hottest products on the market here in Korea.

1.Sum 37 Secret Oil (120,000KRW)

This one isn’t really a oil serum but I’ve been seeing this everywhere so I thought I’d put it in the list. This is a anti-aging oil that uses fermentation. It claims to moisturize, tighten, and nourish the skin for a more youthful looking skin. They recommend that you use it with the Sum 37 Secret Essence (80,000KRW). That’s 200,000 for both…

2. Darphin Luminating Oil Serum (100,000KRW)

Micro-encapsulated essential oils of citrus, florals, cedar wood, and ginger help illuminate and revitalize skin. I’m sure that this smells amazing and 90% of is it of natural origin.

Lumière Essentielle Serum

3. Hera Oil Serum Magic Formula (85,000KRW)

This has a very interesting formula. It’s a mixture of gel, water, and oil. So it has a fresh feeling gel finish with the lightness of a watery essence and deep nourishment of an oil. 60% of the formula is oil.

4. Innisfree Ginger Oil Serum (28,000KRW)

This also has a light gel texture that is infused with ginger oil. Ginger strengthens and revitalizes tired skin. They have a light and rich version so you can decide what level of hydration your skin needs.

5. Neogen White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop (22,400)

This is a nonsticky oil serum the retexturizes, whitens, and nourishes the skin. The White Truffle has lots of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals than black truffle. It also has tiny oil capsules that burts as you apply it to the skin.

6. The Face Shop The Therapy Oil Drop Anti-aging Serum (28,000KRW)

This one seems to be sold out online but it uses a oil blend of marigold, olive oil, oat seeds, and bay leaves. It claims to have an anti-aging effect while providing intense hydration to the skin.

7. SK-II Facial Treatment Oil (169,000KRW)

This is a mix of six oils and is a golden ratio combination of oil and Pitera Essence.

8. Biothem Blue Therapy Serum in Oil Night (85,000KRW)

The oil in this dissolves in water! The ingredients are very interesting. I’ve never heard of sea sugar but it’s also has a mix of omega 3, youth algae, and blue algae. It also has added adenosine that helps with wrinkles.

9. Nature Republic Argan 20 Oil Essence (16,900KRW)

This is the cheapest of the bunch. This contains fermented argan oil that has been kept at 20 degrees Celcius and provides your skin with improved elasticity and hydration. This also has a gel like texture.

10. Shu Uemura Ultimate Oil in Essence (130,000KRW)

This is the most expensive in this list. 8 oils are blended into an essence that is supposedly works miracles on your wrinkles.

I want to try all of them! Let me know which ones you’ve tried or want to try!

Son and Park 💦Beauty Water💦 Review!

How’s it going Oh My Glossers! I hope you had a wild week catching Pokemon on Pokemon Go… if you’re into that kind of stuff. I wish it came out in Korea already! Then I’ll have  something new to be obsessed about hahaha. Just kidding, my beauty obsession will always be number one, sorry Pikachu. This post is going to be one of those reviews that other beauty bloggers have blogged about many times and a while ago, but hey I’m bring it back y’all. The Son and Park Beauty Water is a must have or a must try for Kbeauty or just any skincare beauty lovers out there!

DSCF9948.jpg

The Beauty Water’s popularity rose when it became known to the public that Korean celebrities were all about this product. It claims that it’s neither a toner nor a cleansing water… so what is it? To put it simply it’s a multifunctional skincare product. You can use it as a toner and a cleansing water that exfoliates, hydrates, and softens the skin. You can use it anytime, in the morning instead of soap and water, before the gym to wipe off makeup, to prep your skin before applying makeup, refresh your skin during the day by putting it in a spray bottle, you can wet some cotton pads to make a sheet mask, use it as the last step in your cleansing routine, and you can take some of it on the plane to freshen up during flight. The possibilities are endless.

The multipurpose part of it is great, but how does it perform? I have to say that this is the best product Son and Park has come out with. It’s such a simple product, but because it can do so many things it gets so many wins. The ingredients list is pretty impressive too. 94% of it is of natural origin, there are 20 ingredients that moisturises, brightens, softens the skin like Damask Rose, orange extract, and papaya fruit. Also it uses coconut, corn, potato, and wheat ingredients to gently exfoliate and cleanse the skin. It’s the perfect tonic for dewy skin anytime and for anyone. I usually use a cotton pad to gently wipe all over my skin or pat it on to the skin if I don’t have a cotton pad available.

DSCF9949.jpg

The Beauty Water is a really approachable product that it doesn’t seem to be a overly Korean beauty product. It can really cross beauty borders without being labelled as “Asian skincare”. The packaging itself is really plain, but at the same time very sleek and sophisticated. It screams “I AM AN ESSENTIAL PART OF YOUR BEAUTY REGIME!”. If you can get your hand on one, it will change you for the better. It’s not overly sticky or drying, and its gentle enough for sensitive skin types. The 340mL goes for 25,000KRW and they also sell a 500mL for 39,000KRW.

Should you wash your face with soap in the morning? My morning skincare routine!

Hello Oh My Glossers! Today I wanted to share about this beauty dilemma, whether to wash your face with soap in the morning. Also I wanted to share my curent morning skincare routine. I’ve been getting asked a lot about morning skincare issues lately. Before I get into what my routine is like, let’s tackle this question of sud or sans sud to start off your day.

I’ve read a lot of articles where dermatologists say that it’s okay not to wash your face in the morning with soap. This is because sleep is the time where our skin can replenish and restore balance back to your skin. Also, if you have a solid night time cleansing routine then washing your face again in the morning isn’t necessary and it will strip away some of the good oils that your skin needs. I would suggest instead of using tap water, which can also be drying, use mineral/thermal water mists from Vichy or Avene and then go into your regular morning skincare routine. So that settles the no soap routine, does that mean that washing your face with soap is bad? No, you just have to use the right kind of cleanser. There are a lot of great mild face cleansers on the market, Cetaphil is a very trusted brand to be very mild. I never ever ever use a foam cleanser in the morning because it will strip my face and give me dry patches.

For the longest time I used the Victoria Egg Soap and recently I swapped it with the Verite Good-Morning Mild Cleanser. Verite is a cosmetic brand under the Amore Pacific group. This cleaner is suited for sensitive skin and has a pH balance of 5.5. This number is the magical number when it comes to creating a healthy and comfortable surface for our skin. A little acidic and not too alkaline. It’s also formulated with hayaluronic acid and camomile extract for a moisture boosting and calming result. As well as that, it has konjac granules to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and excess oil. You can’t really feel it like harsh scrubbing beads in some other cleansers. My skin definitely feels silky and soft after using it. Also it doesn’t feel like I washed my face because it doesn’t foam up, it feels like it’s prepping my skin for the next step. If you feel as though washing with water isn’t enough, then try a mild cleanser like this one. The conclusion is that it’s your preference whether or not you want to wash your face with soap, just make sure that it’s a mild cleanser if you do.

sdf.png

Quickly I’ll list and go over my morning skin ritual. So like I mentioned, I wash with the Verite Good-Morning Mild Cleanser. I like to apply it on dry skin first and massage it all over then rinse with luke warm water. Then I use my Hanyul Red Rice Skin Softener to prep my skin. After, I apply my IOPE Bio Eye Cream Youth Complete and shortly after the SK-II Cellumination Aura Essence. I’m actually almost out so I’ll have to invest in a essence soon. If I feel like my skin needs extra moisture I either apply some sweet almond oil or the Hanyul Jacho Oil. Then I wrap it all up in a moisturising cream, I switch around three different creams which are SK-II RNA Power cream (which I’m also running low on), Tony Moly The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Cream, and the Vichy Idealia Cream. I usually wear makeup and my primers have SPF in it so I don’t really have a regular sunscreen that I use, but I do sometimes use the IOPE UV Shield Sun Protector cream.

Oh My Gloss Blog Beauty Faves of 2015

82377498-6486-40ba-bb52-b96da57a8d3d

This should have been a post for this Wednesday before the New Year, but I didn’t have the time to write while I was in Japan. So here it is, my 2015 beauty favorites! These products didn’t necessarily come out in 2015. It more of what I purchased last year that I would repurchase or recommend to you and others. I will list them in categories so it’s easier to read. Here we go!

Foundation-

Hands down I love the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation. It makes my skin look so good in photos and in real life. It stays on for the whole day, great texture, and it feels comfortable to wear. I took a break from it for like two weeks and when I wore it again I noticed how great it looked on my skin.

Concealer-

NARS. Radiant. Creamy. Concealer. I think I’ve bought three concealers last year, but they don’t compare to this one. I’ve repurchased this one before and it still hasn’t disappointed me. The texture is creamy but not sticky and has enough pigmentation to cover my dark circles and lighten up dark areas around the nose and mouth.

BB Cushion-

I haven’t reviewed this one yet for some reason, but the Laneige BB Cushion (Pore Control) makes my skin so smooth. Great for those who have combination/oily skin types. It’s a semi matte finish so your skin looks very natural. It’s really good for on the go, just pat it all over and you have poreless looking skin fast without having to prep your skin with a base or set it with something afterwards. Two thumbs up for this one.

Highlighter-

This is a hard one because I love all of my highlighters that I’ve bought in 2015… But if I really have to choose it would be the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal. I die every time I put it on! It’s so gorgeous on the skin and stays on all day to keep my face looking glow-tastic.

Blush-

MAC mineralize blushes. I have one called petal power and I love using it all the time. I think the Mineralize line from MAC is very good because I also like the Mineralize skinfinishes and the Mineralise foundation. The blushes start out sheer and you can easily build on it. For me blushes have to be some what sheer because It can take just one brush stroke to make me look like a clown.

Lip products-

Espoir No Wear Luster Lipsticks! So many glorious colors. Great texture. PIGMENTED. I really love them. I bought 4 when they came out in Summer of last year.

The Face Shop Ink Lipquid Moisture. A combination of a lip tint, lipstick, and lipgloss. Stays put all day and the pigmentation is very good as well.

Eye products-

Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara I think was my favorite mascara purchase last year. I think it’s better than the Benefit Roller Lash that I got in early 2015. It’s much cheaper and it does what it says it does in the packaging. I have no rubbing off and holds my curl very well.

Skin care-

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. Something about it, I don’t really know, but my skin feels very nice after I use it and my skin texture is so much better since I started using it. It’s expensive, I think its worth getting.

Almond Oil is my best friend. I use it every day, it’s very rich and moisturising. Also very cheap.

So these were my faves of 2015 and I will continue to use them in 2016! I hope you all had a fantastic New Years and I can’t wait to see how this blog will bloom this year. Thank you for all your support in 2015 and I hope you will continue to visit and support me in 2016!

Beauty Essentials For The Lazy Girl Winter Edition

Hey! Today I wanted to something else than a review so I’m going to list the essential beauty products catered to the lazy girl in all of us! Since it is winter this list is going to include stuff that would be ideal for the cold season.

Number 1!

A good nourishing face cream.

Skip the lotion and finish your skin routine off with a face cream. It will moisturize better than a lotion and it will help seal in the moisture from escaping throughout the wintery season and hot heaters. I’ve been using the SK-II R.N.A. Power Radical New Age cream and it’s great for Anti-aging and firming the skin. This one is a high end brand so it is a bit pricy 139,000KRW for 50g. A budget friendly alternative would be the Vichy Idealia cream which goes for 59,000KRW. I will have a review on this product soon!
Screen-Shot-2015-07-19-at-11.57.13-pmVichy_Idealia_N_C_50ml_1392911645

Number 2!

A tinted moisturizer or a BB cream

If you don’t have the “time” to put on foundation all you need is pair of clean hands and a tube of your favourite BB cream or tinted moisturiser. It takes a minute to put on and you’ll have covered all the bases like sun protectant, primer, and foundation. It’s easy to put on and you can’t mess it up. Also you don’t have to fuss over blending, brushes, or sponges. Try the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 they have a bunch of shades to choose from that will hydrate and even out the skin tone. It goes for 62,00KRW but in the States it’s 44.000USD. :/ Not sure what to think about that.

Number 3!

A cream blush that can also be a lip color

Sallow complexion in winter is never good, so warming up the face with a cream blush will give you skin a dewy warmth rather than a powdery look that will accentuate the dryness of your skin. You can use the blush as a lip tint as well. If your lips feel too dry then just layer over it with chapstick. Stila has Convertible Colors that can be used fro both lip and cheek. It’s 38,000KRW or in the States 25.00USD. The Korean road shop Aritaum has Sugarball Cushion blushers that has a small puff inside to apply your cream blusher. It is 8,000KRW and I use the color no.3 Daisy Coral.

Number 4!

Sleeping packs

Lazy girls such as myself love to sleep so with basically with no effort you can still have diligently well managed skin just by ending your day with a general slathering of a sleeping pack cream. While you sleep it will moisturise and also deliver the nourishing ingredients to your skin and the great thing is that you don’t have to deal with peels, mask sheets, or post washing of the face. A lazy girl’s dream come true. I’ve been using the BRTC Vitalizer Whitening Sleeping Pack that costs 31,000KRW. The review I did is here.

eb51d820d130ffe1ee968728cd9dd499-500x500I hope you enjoyed this post! Treat your inner lazy girl this winter season and hit the snooze because you can still manage to look great without waking up early 😉

SK-II Auractivator CC Cream For That “Natural” Look

Hey guys!

I hope you’re off to an awesome weekend!

Today I am going to review a CC cream from SK-II. I received this from the Beauty Bound Asia challenge a couple weeks ago. Here is my unboxing video!

[embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-jFWFmDczE[/embedyt]

I want to review some of the other products I got as well in my future posts, but for now I will start with the Auractivator CC Cream.

DSCF8030

CC cream is a like BB cream, just think of it as a tinted moisturiser. Instead of covering blemishes it color corrects the skin that helps with uneven skin tone or redness. The coverage can vary between brands; The Auractivator CC cream has a light coverage that looks natural and easy to blend over the skin. I know that the higher coverage the harder it is to suit darker skin types. But this one looks natural and doesn’t make it look like I have a kabuki mask on. Most all CC and BB creams have high SPF so it’s an easy one-step makeup product.

DSCF8033

DSCF8031

The Auractivator CC cream is made in Japan comes in a white tube with a pump. It has SPF 50+ PA+++, the highest protection available. SPF guards against UV-B rays and PA protects from UV-A rays. So in the sun protection department this CC cream has it covered. Like all SK-II products this has concentrated amounts of Pitera, a skin rejuvenating formula of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and other organic acids. It also has 40% of the Cellumination Aura Essence brightening ingredients that will boost skin luminosity. Also the micro pearl pigment gives your skin an instant glowy look, which I love! Also its very moisturising, glides on to the skin when you apply it, and lasts through the whole day without any darkening effects.

DSCF8034 DSCF8035

DSCF8036

I’ve tries this for week now and it is one of the best CC creams I’ve used. My skin looks healthy and it feels like I have nothing on my face. For those of you who like very minimal makeup I would recommend this to you. Not only does this nourish the skin it’s an easy to apply product that you can wear everyday. All I need is one pump to cover the entire face.

Now this is the not so fun part, for 30g this costs 87,000KRW that’s about 76,000USD. You can buy a decent CC cream for less than that.  If you can fork out that much then great! This is a great product but if you can’t then don’t worry about there are CC creams that will give you similar results.

I hope you found this informative! Please follow me on Instagram @ohmyglossblog if you would like to see daily pictures and updates. You can also like my Facebook Page for more information and pictures too!

Autumn skincare! To mist or not to mist?

Hey everyone!

I hop you’re enjoying the enjoying the weather wherever you are! It’s that time when seasons are changing and that means our body and skin are going to react to these seasonal changes. In Seoul, Korea we are officially in fall! It’s probably last a month and then its going to be winter for like 5 months hahaha! But because of this we need to prep our skin so that we can be prepared for the cold and dry winter months. Just like the animals store food for winter, we have to store moisture in our skin.

Creams, oils, and thicker lotions should be routine in your fall skincare routine. I currently use almond oil instead of lotion. I have been using it all year actually and I love it!  Also, I have been carrying around a mist in my bag to give my skin a burst of moisture throughout the day. Mists are on-the-go skincare that can give your skin and makeup a fresh finished look again. I’ve used mists that dried out my skin because all it was was water. It just evaporated off my skin taking whatever moisture I had in my skin too. For summer months a refreshing mineral water mist is great but for fall and winter consider using a moisturizing essence spray.

What is essence? Essence is a a liquid that has concentrated amounts of particular ingredients or ingredient. When you use a essence type mist you’re giving your skin the best nourishment compared to a water type one. Haha I feel like I’m talking about Pokemon… yes I am a Pokemon nerd.

ANYWAY! Do you absolutely need to use a mist? No. But if you have dryness throughout the day and already have dry skin you should consider trying it out. Here are some mists that I would recommend!

  • Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist

This is the creme-de-la-creme of mists in my opinion this goes for $90.00USD/120,00KRW! However, this stuff is amazing! This magic water spray has a powerful camellia moisturizing ingredient, and blue ginger antioxidant, vitamin C and E and hyaluronic acid. It’s a spa in a spray can.

  • SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence Mist

I’m currently using this at the moment. SK-II is well know for their signature ingredient, Pitera. This mist is a combination of Pitera and a moisture lock complex that will keep your skin moisturized for up to 4 hours after spritzing. The very fine mist will penetrate though your makeup and deliver moisture goodness to the skin. It also has a midnight companion. This 50ml spray is 80.00USD/75,000KRW

  • Caudalie Beauty Elixir

This grape essence spray is a mix of essential oils and active plant ingredients. This will also tone your skin to minimize pore size and stimulates mircocirculation. This one you have to shake before using it. There are two sizes you can choose from, 1.0oz or 3.5oz. The smaller on is 18.00USD/23,000KRW and the bigger one goes for 49.00USD/65,000KRW.

  • Innisfree Green Tea mineral mist

I wasn’t going to put this one in because it more watery than the other ones I listed, but it’s still a good mist. The is a Korean brand mist. It is 89.7% green tea extract, and has amino acids and lots of minerals to keep your skin from drying out. This is a cheaper than the other ones, the 120ml fog spray is 14,00KRW that’s around 12.00USD.

Well that all for today! I hope this was helpful to you and got you somewhat interested in this beauty product. You can follow me on Instagram @ohmyglossblog and my Facebook page for daily updates and photos!
