Troiareuke In Depth Product Review- ‘Pimples Be Gone!’ ACSEN Selemix Serum

Hey Guys!

This is going to be a lengthy and detailed review on three Troiareuke products. I separated each product into 3 post because all together it was too long. So at the bottom there are links to the other two products! I hope that will be helpful for you guys to read and navigate.

This brand is a branch from a bigger company called MK Universal. They have other spa brand products and spa services including Troipeel. I was gifted the Acsen Oil Cut Cleansing, Acsen Selemix Serum, and the Skin Complex Formula (H+ Cocktail Anti-Trouble Formula Ampoule) from the brand. I was first introduced to the brand at the Seoul Blogger Brunch that I attended in September this year. I knew that they were a spa brand and many of their clients go to treat acne and different skin problems. I was also gifted the Acsen UV Protector Essence, but I haven’t tried it yet since I have so many sunscreens open right now. Anyway, let’s get on with the review.

What’s with the name and what’s this brand about?

Troi-are-uke is a mouthful to say at first but after a while it rolls off the tongue. On their website they explain that -areuke means beginning in Greek, and with that they came up with ‘Troiareuke’ -the beginning with of prescription skincare cosmetics. They are proud of their 1:1 skincare prescription. I actually did a small survey and was matched with the Selemix Serum when they contacted me. They also take a holistic approach to skincare taking into consideration chromatherapy and aromatherapy.

Acsen is one of the Troiareuke skincare lines. It is a combination of two skin concerns, acne and sensitive. The main ingredient in this line is Centella Asiatica which is a great skin ingredient for skin recovery and regeneration. Another main ingredient is a combination of beansprout and magnolia tree bark which they call ‘Selemix An’, which is good for skin protection, recovery, and inflammation.

ACSEN Selemix Serum

This serum was sent to me for me to write a review some months after the Seoul Blogger Brunch. I was going to review this by itself, but I thought why not kill ‘troi’ birds with one stone! You get it? “Troi” is 3 in French and also it’s how the beginning of how Troiareuke is spelled… you know.. but since I have three products instead of 2.. birds.. yeah… ok. Anyway, I was a little confused when they sent me this serum since I told them I had very dry skin. I was a bit worried at first because whenever I think of ‘acne’ products that it was going to be drying. However, I had nothing to worry about! It claims to minimize skin trouble and reduce scars.

This is serum contains the Selemix An (beansprout, magnolia tree bark) , sciadopitys verticillata extract (Japanese Umbrella Pine), Chamomile extract, Salicylic Acid, Centella Asiatica, and essential oils. The anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients are great for acne and sensitive skin types. This serum looks exactly like the Acsen Oil Cut Cleansing. The texture is very light and 2 pumps is how much I use each time to get a generous coating on my skin. It absorbs quickly without any sticky feeling. I get a nice hydrated feeling and it doesn’t irritate my ezcema patches either which is a major plus.

I noticed that with this serum that any pimples I got went away much quicker than if I didn’t include it in my skincare routine. Especially when I use it before I start my period, when I get hormonal pimples here and there, it does a good job of controlling not only the amount of pimples I get but also the longevity of them, even if I’ve been bad and squeezed the crap out of it. I really think this is a really awesome product. The only down is the price. It is hella expensive… its 156,000KRW for 100ml, but they did come out with a smaller 40ml size for 62,000KRW. Would I buy this for myself though? I don’t think I would, and the only reason is that even though I think it’s a great product I don’t think my skin needs it that much for that amount of money. If you are having problems with acne and sensitivity and can afford it, do buy it! I don’t have anything bad to say about this serum.

Bonus Mini Review: AGT Hydro Essence & Cell Energy Cream

With the Selemix Serum they sent some samples of the AGT Hydro Essence and Cell Energy Cream. The essence is a clear gel that helps with skin moisture levels and soothes the skin with 7 different oriental herbs and rooibos. This was also a nice treat. I can’t give you any significant results other than it was hydrating. The full size is 52,000KRW for 100ml.
The Cell Energy Cream was also a nice sample. The cream is lightweight and is formulated with Galactomyces ferment and Bifida ferment to help with skin elasticity. It also has Hyaluronic Acid and Lactobacillus to moisturize the skin. I liked the cream a lot so I used up the sample pretty quickly. It absorbs nicely and gives your skin a light glowy coating. My skin felt very bouncy and filled up, I would love to try the full size for a longer length of time. The full size is 130,000KRW for 250ml.

They have a shop in Myeongdong across from exit 1 inside SkyPark Hotel and they have a Korean online shop.

Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Serum Review

What’s up guys!

Today’s weather in Seoul was pouring, so I decided to post up a review on the Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Serum. How perfect! I received this from the K-beauty Expo and I have been testing this out on and off for a few months now. I’ve tried out and reviewed my first TYF products, Back to Iceland cleansing line which you can read more about by clicking the link. The serum is from their True Water line. This line is specifically for hydration, but the products do have anti-wrinkle and whitening ingredients. The serum specifically has adenosine so it is a hydrating and anti wrinkle product.

The serum comes in an airless pump dispenser, which is my preferred way for any skincare because then you don’t have to scrape it out with your fingers or a spatula, or you don’t have to do that thing where you flip it upside down to get the last bit of the product because the tube inside is too short. The container is a frosted plastic, so it looks quite nice in my opinion. You get 60ml of product which is quite a lot since for most skincare brands ranges from 30-50mls for a serum.

The main notable ingredients in serum is dioscorea japonica root extract, adenosine, and ceramide 3. These ingredients hydrate and helps with wrinkles. Other extracts include, Kava leaf/stem/root, aloe, Phellinus linteus (medicinal mushroom), burdock, green purselane, kudzu, licorice, peony root, and marsh parsley. This does contain some PEGs and PPG so if you are sensitive to these then just take caution. There is added fragrance but it is very light fresh scent. They also added blue color to it so it might not appeal to some. I don’t understand why they added it when the packaging could have been blue or something.

The texture is really strange…ermmm, unique? It is a clear viscous fluid that glides on, but it has a slight snail secretion-y texture, or kinda like clear watery glue, or think of if you snap a plant root or stem the gooey secretion that comes out. I don’t mean anything bad by saying this it’s just a very different texture than I’m used to. As you rub it in to the skin it has a slightly oily texture but not as heavy. It’s definitely not sticky but it does leave the thinnest coating on top of the skin. I personally like this feeling because I have dry skin and it feels like my skin is protected from dryness.

I will say that a little goes a long way. I only need one one pump for my whole face, two is a lot for me and It not a great feeling when the extra product is being rubbed over and over again. Also it gets sticky of you apply too much.

My verdict

It’ not a bad serum, I do like a good hydrating product and it does have anti-wrinkle effect added to it. I think it really good for all skin types, especially dry skin types. I do think sensitive skin types should take some caution because of the PEGs and the blue dye. I did really like using it this summer because it was very light, but still hydrated my skin. It’s a solid serum in my book, a 3.8 out of 5 if I had to give it a number rating. They are sold in Ulta and Cult Beauty! They have an online shop in Korean at and the serum costs 40,000KRW for 60ml/2.11 fl. oz.

Again, these products were sent to me from the K-Beauty Expo for review purposes. My opinions are my own and 100% honest!

11 Huesday Ultradeep Finest Serum Review

Hello, Happy Huesday!

Today I will be reviewing two serums from a Korean skincare brand, Eleven Huesday. Eleven Huesday is a trademark of TMC Korea a company that specializes in trading, marketing, and consulting company for aesthetic & medical industry. With that experience they have researched and created their own skincare line so that the users are able to get the professional results at home. I really like the sound of their company’s expertise in the beauty industry. I was sent two out of the four serums in the 11 Huesday Ultradeep Finest Serum line from the K-Beauty Expo to review, which are the Antioxidant Aging Barrier serum and Anti-Stress Recover serum. All the serums come in the same dropper bottle. I really like the aesthetic of the labels, it has a 60s beauty vibe to it.

Antioxidant Aging Barrier

This is best and most recommended serum. It is said to have an…

  • Anti-oxidant effect and enhancement of skin recuperative power
  • Dual skin barrier for moisturizing
  • Activation of collagen for enhancement of elasticity

The liquid is clear and has a viscous slippery texture that feels light and absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling. It has a light-ish powdery floral scent, not a huge fan. The main ingredients includes a multi-peptide mixture, EGF, and salmon DNA.

What are peptides and EGF?

Collagen is a protein comprised of long segments of amino acids arranged like a chain. When collagen breaks down, short segments of amino acids are formed. These are the tiny proteins and active molecules known as peptides. Peptides in skin care can provide significant anti-aging benefits. The multi peptide brew in the Antioxidant Aging Barrier serum includes Nicotinoyl Tripeptide-1 is a antioxidant that gives skin vitality, soothes and protects. The next two peptides are Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 that helps with hydration, wrinkle care, and skin elasticity. The last peptide is Tripeptide-29 that aids collagen synthesis, smooths wrinkles, and fights aging.

Epidermal Growth Factor or EGF for short is a polypeptide that helps skin heal faster and increase collagen production. It sounds great, but it’s a controversial ingredient because if used too much on healthy skin then it can over produce skin cells causing a similar effect to psoriasis.

The Antioxidant Aging Barrier serum also has added salmon DNA (salmon sperm…Yay?!) which helps with skin rejuvenation through increasing elasticity and hydration. It also helps production of hyaluronic acid.

Thoughts on the Serum

I haven’t seen any drastic results, but I do like using it in my skincare routine. It’s very gentle and because it absorbs into the skin quickly I feel like I’m not even putting it on, if you get what I mean. It just disappears after a few circular rubs. The 30 ml/1 fl oz bottle cost 52,000KRW so it’s not cheap.

Anti-Stress Recover Serum

This serum is a soothing SOS serum for troubled skin caused by the polluted external environment and stress. Here are some of the highlights of the serum.

  • Soothing and trouble care
  • Pure and natural medicinal plants
  • No artificial fragrance

The serum has a thicker consistency compared to the AAB serum and it has a milky cast to it. There is no added fragrance which is great! The finish is not sticky and absorbs quickly into the skin. It leaves the skin feeling very soft.

Ingredients Details

This serum contains pure natural patented ingredient, NAFLEX 1 and bee venom water. Bee venom is used cosmetically to ‘fool’ the skin into thinking it has been lightly stung. This causes the body to direct blood towards the area and stimulates the production of the naturally-occurring chemicals collagen and elastin. I thought it would sting my face but it didn’t have that effect. Phew.

It contains Neem oil that helps calm skin inflammation. The NAFLEX 1 ingredient is a mix of herbs used in oriental medicine. It includes polygonum multiflorum (Fo-ti), peony root, Korean angelica root, Japanese honeysuckle, Chinese cinnamon, and licorice root that all helps soothe, disinfect, and re-energize the skin.

Thoughts on the Serum

I honestly like this one better than the AAB serum. I reach for it more than I do the other. It has no smell and I just like how soft my skin feels after. Also, I feel that after a stressful day at work, hormones, and living in polluted Seoul, my skin feels much relaxed after I use it. The 30 ml/1 fl oz bottle cost 42,000KRW.

Neogen White Truffle Serum In Oil Drop

Hey guys! I’m here to review the Neogen White Truffle Serum In Oil Drop that was sent to me by Neogen. I have loved all the Neogen products I’ve used in the past, so I was really excited to try this one out! The white truffle line came out only a month ago and seems to be a hit here in Korea. They also have two other white truffle products that I might review later on.

The serum comes in a colorful yellow and blue box that really pops out at you when you’re looking around at the store. The serum is in a glass bottle with a pump and cap. You can see the oil drops in the bottle which is so cool to look at! Each bottle holds 50ml and I use two pumps per application. I think you can get away with even one pump.

This serum claims to strengthen damaged skin, nourish, create a moist barrier, and brighten the skin. The little drops that you see in the bottle is created by micro fluidic dispersion technology. This new technology balances the oil and serum so that you get a fresh finish and not a sticky or oily feeling on the skin. The white truffle extract is mixed in with a skin barrier component that is similar to our own skin which helps restore damaged skin. This skin barrier is made up of fatty acids, ceramide, and cholesterol that mimics your own skin.

The white truffle extract is the nourishing ingredient. Nicknamed the ‘black diamonds’ in the culinary world, it’s amazing to see this as an ingredient in a skincare product. I thought black truffles were better for some reason but it turns out that white truffles have more vitamins, amino acid, and minerals. The serum also has other oils that helps with moisturizing the skin like macadamia seed oil, avocado oil, and baobab tree seed oil. The added hyaluronic acid keeps your skin hydrated for longer. The serum also as niacinamide to brighten and improve skin texture.

What I love about this serum is the texture and feel of it during and after. At first it feels like a water essence and soon after you get the oil texture and when you’re done massaging it in to the skin you’re left with soft glowing skin. To test it, I only applied toner and this before I went to bed and the next day my skin didn’t feel dried out, but felt soft and still had a hint glow. I’ve been using it night and day for several days now and the dry spot on my forehead is so much softer and 90% less flaky. I’ll have to try it more to see any brightening effects though.

It costs 22,400 KRW and you can get it at the Neogen website or at any Olive Young store. Thanks for reading and follow me on social to keep yourself updated, @ohmyglossblog everywhere!

Oil Serums to Try This Fall/Winter

Hey guys! I’ve been in search for some new products to try this fall/winter season. The trend these days seem to be oil serums. I love the idea of these because I love using oils and serums are bees knees in your skincare routine. So here’s a list I’ve compiled of some of the hottest products on the market here in Korea.

1.Sum 37 Secret Oil (120,000KRW)

This one isn’t really a oil serum but I’ve been seeing this everywhere so I thought I’d put it in the list. This is a anti-aging oil that uses fermentation. It claims to moisturize, tighten, and nourish the skin for a more youthful looking skin. They recommend that you use it with the Sum 37 Secret Essence (80,000KRW). That’s 200,000 for both…

2. Darphin Luminating Oil Serum (100,000KRW)

Micro-encapsulated essential oils of citrus, florals, cedar wood, and ginger help illuminate and revitalize skin. I’m sure that this smells amazing and 90% of is it of natural origin.

Lumière Essentielle Serum

3. Hera Oil Serum Magic Formula (85,000KRW)

This has a very interesting formula. It’s a mixture of gel, water, and oil. So it has a fresh feeling gel finish with the lightness of a watery essence and deep nourishment of an oil. 60% of the formula is oil.

4. Innisfree Ginger Oil Serum (28,000KRW)

This also has a light gel texture that is infused with ginger oil. Ginger strengthens and revitalizes tired skin. They have a light and rich version so you can decide what level of hydration your skin needs.

5. Neogen White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop (22,400)

This is a nonsticky oil serum the retexturizes, whitens, and nourishes the skin. The White Truffle has lots of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals than black truffle. It also has tiny oil capsules that burts as you apply it to the skin.

6. The Face Shop The Therapy Oil Drop Anti-aging Serum (28,000KRW)

This one seems to be sold out online but it uses a oil blend of marigold, olive oil, oat seeds, and bay leaves. It claims to have an anti-aging effect while providing intense hydration to the skin.

7. SK-II Facial Treatment Oil (169,000KRW)

This is a mix of six oils and is a golden ratio combination of oil and Pitera Essence.

8. Biothem Blue Therapy Serum in Oil Night (85,000KRW)

The oil in this dissolves in water! The ingredients are very interesting. I’ve never heard of sea sugar but it’s also has a mix of omega 3, youth algae, and blue algae. It also has added adenosine that helps with wrinkles.

9. Nature Republic Argan 20 Oil Essence (16,900KRW)

This is the cheapest of the bunch. This contains fermented argan oil that has been kept at 20 degrees Celcius and provides your skin with improved elasticity and hydration. This also has a gel like texture.

10. Shu Uemura Ultimate Oil in Essence (130,000KRW)

This is the most expensive in this list. 8 oils are blended into an essence that is supposedly works miracles on your wrinkles.

I want to try all of them! Let me know which ones you’ve tried or want to try!

Hello Ohmyglossers! I am here with a new review and it’s going to be about the new Laneige X Lucky Chouette Serum Drop Tints. This collaboration launched earlier this month and I went over to flash pop up on the 28th of July to get an sneak peek at the goods. I was also lucky enough to receive a goodie bag to take home with me because a friend of mine was a winner of a Facebook draw on the Laniege FB post and she invited me as a her plus one! Thank you Tina if you’re reading this~ Anyway getting back to the review, the collab includes the Serum Drop Tints, a Multi Color powder, BB Cushion Whitening, and BB Cushion Pore Control. The BB cushions are the same as the normal ones except for the case design, and the Multi Color powder… I’ll get back to it later in this post.

The Serum Drop Tints are a new line of tint for Laniege, the only ones I knew they had were the Water Drop Tints. The SDT have complete new colors, formula, and applicator compared to the WDT. The SDT packaging is super cute, all of the L X LC have a owl theme because ‘chouette’ means owl in French and the clothing brand’s logo. There are 10 trendy colors to choose from. I have number 5 Sassy Girl ,a strawberry red, and number 8 Urban Coral, a deep pink coral. The applicator has a triangular tip for precise application around the edges of the lip and it also has a hollow center to hold enough product for the whole lip.

Top R to L: 10,9,8,7

Top R to L: 6,5,4,3

Top R to L: 2,1

The formula is really interesting. At first it just applies like a creamy tint but after about 10 seconds it becomes more glossy looking. It has the same Berry Mix Complex that is also used in the Laneige Lip Mask. It’s feathery light on the lips and not at all sticky. It feels like an oil serum on the lips. I think the serum formula enhances the look of the tint shade and even when the glossiness fades it leaves a pretty tint on the lips. It’s really comfortable to wear.

The lasting power is okay, the gloss will fade over time but the color lasts and doesn’t flake. I did have to reapply on the middle of the lips after eating, but drinking was okay. I think the these are perfect for those who want to use a tint that is moisturizing and glossy, they remind me of the Tony Moly HD Lip Tints but more hydrating and more shades to choose from. They go for 25,000 KRW for 6g.

Just a quick detour about the Multi Color, you can use it as a highlight or a sheer shimmery blush or even as eye shadow, but for me I don’t reach for it often. Also it’s 30,000KRW so for that price I don’t think it’s worth it to purchase unless you want it for your collection. So that’s that.

The orange color hardly swatched…

BB+CC+FOUNDATION=BCDation+ from Tony Moly

Hey guys!

I am writing today about the Tony Moly BCDation plus. So in Korea BB and CC creams are very popular. Tony Moly has created a combination of the lightweight feel of a BB cream, the moisturising effects of a CC cream, and the high coverage of a foundation into one product. I tested out their sample a long time ago and I was looking back in my Instagram photos and on the day I used the sample my skin looked pretty good and I recommended to  check it out. So a million years later I bought the full size version. They also came out with a cushion version of it aka the #selfiecushion. It’s the same product but different packaging and method of application.DSCF9396.JPG

I’ve been using it for a couple days now and I am pretty impressed with it. I always have a ‘meh’ feeling when it comes to Korean foundations, one because of the limit shades and two because I’ve never impressed with the foundations I’ve tried. So as with this one I was a little hesitant at first, but it was under 20,000KRW so I ended up purchasing it. the shade I got was 03 Warm Beige. It matches my skin nicely, maybe a tad lighter. The packaging is simple black pump bottle with a slit window to see how much product you have left. At first, I had to pump it a lot and then it comes out a bit sporadically, but after that it’s fine.

The formula is 45% serum, has 4 types of energy seed capsules which are pomegranate seed, ginseng, moringa, and green tea. Also it has a college booster that helps with keeping skin moist and plump. It also says it has the ‘spider fitting network’ where the oils, pigment, nutrients, and moisturising ingredients are spread out evenly to ‘fit’ on to the skin giving an even complexion. It is formulated to help with whitening, wrinkles, and UV protection up 30SPF PA++.

The texture is very creamy and when I rub my fingers together it has a soft moisturised feeling, not greasy or matte. It feels the same on my face as well and has a semi matte finish, so it looks very natural. It really looks like my skin even when I’m looking really close. It adheres to my skin really well, I don’t have to blend so much. I can spread it with my fingers or a foundation brush easily. The coverage I would say is medium to full. You can build it two the coverage you want, I suggest doing that in layers. However, for me one layer was sufficient in covering up brown spots on my face. It also doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable on the skin.  I wore pretty well all day, didn’t see any darkening or patchiness.

Overall I give this a two thumbs up. I think  it will suit any skin type and the price is very reasonable for what it does. It was a good 18,800KRW well spent.

What do you use on a regular basis? BB cream, CC cream, or foundation?

How to wash and prep your face in order

Hey everyone!

So I get asked a lot of skincare questions and I thought I’d write about the general step by step of how to wash and prep your skin. I think this will be a helpful post for those who aren’t familiar with skin care routines. So let’s get started!

1. Wash your face!

I wash my face twice a day, in the morning and at night. In the mornings I like to use a mild soap just to get stimulate the blood flow and to balance out the skin. Also your makeup is going to go on smoother on a cleaner surface. Then at night I will use a makeup removing cleanser to wash off makeup as well as dirt and oil. A couple times a week I like to exfoliate my skin to get rid of any dead skin build up. Weekly exfoliation will keep your pores from being blocked which can develop into pimples.

2. Tony! Toni! Toner!

I’ve written a post on it before oh my you should use toner and you can read it here. Using toner can help the skin take in the other products you will use later. It should be used before any other skin product. I use a cotton pad and gently wipe around the face. Those with oily skin should never ever skip this step! The toner will help prep and control oiliness.

3. Treat your skin

If you’ve got a pimple or pimples use a blemish treatment cream/ointment on specific areas.

4. I scream for eye(s) cream and serum

These are the two skin products that you should invest in. The first signs of ageing starts around the eyes so always moisturise the eye area and firm up the skin with an anti-ageing formulated eye cream if you are in your early 20s or older. Serum or essence will give your skin extra nourishment and helps keep the elasticity of your skin. As you get older collagen in the skin will start to diminish. So using a serum as part of your skin care routine is key to having youthful looking skin.

I hope you don’t mind the dark humor 😉 Whether it is lotion, cream, or oil, this step will lock in everything you put on previously. It will also repair the skin and keep it from drying out. Drying out the skin will cause more breakout and the texture of your skin will become rough. So slather it on. I like to use oils and creams instead of lotion because I have very dry skin. For oily skin types a light lotion or gel cream will do.

6. The California Raisins called and they want their wrinkles back…

is what you’re gonna hear if you don’t put on sunscreen everyday. Use a UVA and UVB blocking sunscreen. Just because you’re going outside for 10 mins is not an excuse not to wear sunscreen. Always and everyday apply sunscreen before leaving your house. You can rad more about the importance of sunscreen here!

Now you know what to buy and how to use it! I hope this post was informative and not overwhelming for you 🙂 If you have any questions just drop a comment below!
