How to revamp your basic red lip

Hey guys!

I haven’t done a tutorial in a very long time so I decided instead of a review I wanted to do a very easy lip tutorial for you guys. So you haven’t already read my red lip tutorial you can check it out by clicking here and if you want to read more about my thoughts on red lipstick you can read that by clicking here. I love red lips and I think every woman should be able to master this beautiful makeup tradition. Now fall is nearing and I wanted to share this lip look that will get you giddy for this new season.

Korea is really into the inner lip stain look where there is a gradation of color with more intensity toward the center of the lips. I’m going to do the same thing but with two colors of lipstick, one lighter and the other darker. The products I’m using today is all from MAC, but that doesn’t mean you have to use these specific products.

First, prep the mouth area with a lip primer or some kind of lip care base so that your lips feel comfortable. Then line the lips and fill it it with a lip pencil that is similar to the lighter color lipstick. I’m Using MAC lip liner in Cherry.

Second, apply the lighter red around the outer part if your lip not going into the inner part of your lips. This color is Ruby Woo (my favorite red).

Third, apply the darker red in the inner part of you lip. This color is Diva, a deep red burgundy. After applying the darker color you want to blend the colors together, so press your lips together gently a couple times or until you see a nice fade between the two colors.

Remember to blot lightly on a tissue for any excess of product on you lip and clean up any messy lines with a lip brush or a tissue wrapped around your finger. This lip look gives you a very deep, sultry looking lip that will give your lips more dimension and depth. I hope you enjoyed this very short and easy tutorial! It’d definitely something fun to try out in autumn!

My Top 5 MAC Repurchases!

Happy hump day! So I have this week to finish and then three weeks of vacation!!! Woohoo! I can’t wait! Today I want to share my top 5 MAC repurchases. The only reason I would want to repurchase something is because the product worked for me and I loved it! So here are some of my MAC loves that I would use again and again.

1. Mineralize Moisture Foundation (NC30)

I haven’t repurchased this one but once I run out I will definitely go back and get it. I got it earlier this year and I loved it from the beginning. The formula is very moisturising and it’s great for my dry skin. The texture is lightweight even though it is a moisturising foundation, and gives you a light to medium coverage. It has a dewy/satiny finish so it looks very natural. Also, the formula includes SPF so on the days that I happen to forget to put on sunscreen I can have at least some protection throughout the day. I just really like it because it’s just a great foundation for everyday and all seasons. It’s about $35.00USD/52,000KRW.

2. Lipglass in Nymphette

I have bought this lipgloss 3 times because the color is gorgeous! Its a pink gloss with gold shimmer. When the light hits the gloss you get a nice sunny pink golden glow. I think it’ll compliment any skin tone, its not very glittery or cyborg pearly. I can wear it alone or I can put it on top of a lipstick and it will just make it extra special. Can you tell how much I love this color? It’s a little sticky but I don’t mind it so much because I don’t have to reapply again and again. It’s just so purty for any occasion. Each tube goes for $15.00USD/29,000KRW

3. Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and Global Glow

Soft and Gentle
Global Glow
Ok so this is a two for one.. I couldn’t decide which MNSF to pick so I just did both. Soft and Gentle has been my go to highlighter for many years. You can go really sheer or go insane and it’ll still look good. Haha I might be exaggerating a little, but it’s a really good highlighting shade for anyone in my opinion. It’s not overly glittery so you’re not going to look like your 9th grade homecoming picture. On the MAC website they say its a gilded peach bronze, I can’t really tell if its bronze but it’s such an easy color and texture to brush on. Global glow is from the same line but a different shade. I can use this as a bronzer/highlighter/cheek color. It’s very versatile and it gives my skin a bit of warmth and a nice glow. It’s a gold tan color but has a silver sheen that’ll make it very wearable for any skin tone. Both are $32.00USD/45,000KRW each.

4. Lipstick in Ruby Woo

ICONIC LIPSTICK. MATTE. RED. RETRO. PIGMENTED. JUST GORGEOUS. Apologies for the all caps… but seriously my favourite red of all time. I use the Cherry lip liner from MAC with it. It’s a color that brightens up my complexion and I think even my teeth. It’s a blue red so it has that effect. It’s definitely a red that will make you wanna show everyone and it lasts all day. Each lippie is $16.00USD/29,000KRW

5. Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre

This has been a recent purchase but I have been using its everyday before I apply my eyeshadow. It’s very creamy but it dries quickly to a matte finish. It is a great base for your eyeshadow to last a long time. Also, it gives you a clean base color to work with. It won’t crease either because it sticks to your lids. Each pot is $21.00USD/28,000KRW

I hope you like my picks 🙂

Easy As 1,2,3- How to Look Like a Bronzed Goddess!

Hey guys!

This is a follow up post on the bronzer post I wrote earlier this week. I will show you an easy step by step method to get you a sun kissed glow. Grab your bronzer and your brush and let’s get started!

Using the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun! and the Real Techniques blush brush
After you are done applying your base makeup (foundation, bb, tinted moisturiser, etc.) you’re going to start bronzing the face to give it more warmth and depth.

Prepped and ready to go 🙂

What we are going to be doing is shading a ‘3’ on the side of our face. I like to start with the center of the three which would be our cheeks. Just like you would apply blush, sweep the bronzer up toward the temples and then brush in a circular motion to blend it out.

I make this side fish face to give me a better look at where I should apply the product.
Step 1 done!
Now starting from the temples, move up towards the side of your forehead and brush closely along the hairline. Make sure you don’t bronze the whole forehead, you want the high points of your face to bright to give you a shapely looking forehead.

Start from the temples to connect with the cheek line.
Brush on the sides of your forehead and up towards the hair line.
The last part is the bottom of the three which is the jawline. Again starting from the temple, brush downward along the side of your face and the jawline. This will frame your face and complete the bronzed look. Make sure that all the shading is connected and fluid.

Again from the temples, sweep down as you follow the jawline.
We’re done!

You’re done! Easy as pie. I hope you enjoyed this pictorial and follow me on Instagram @ohmyglossblog and you can also see post updates on the Facebook page.

One Product That Will Keep You Out of the Sun

I absolutely love summer, the Sun, and sunbathing. But these days I’m trying to be a little less sun-happy because I want to retain and maintain the youthfulness of my skin as best I can. So instead of heading out to get your summer glow in the harsh sunlight, save your skin and opt for a good bronzer.

Bronzers can be a difficult thing to shop for because it’s a product that a lot people misuse and abuse, I’ll explain that in a little bit. Also, I think it’s a really hard color to match with your skintone. There are possibilities that it’s going to look muddy or too orange. To be honest you can’t beat a natural summer tan, maybe that’s why people will risk the effects of tanning to get the color they want. Nevertheless, as a beauty blogger I’m here to encourage you to take care of your beautiful skin and avoid being out in the Sun without proper protection. If you absolutely must go out read this post I wrote a couple month back. Anyway, when I said before about misusing and abusing bronzers, I’m talking about using too much and/or placing it on unflattering areas of the face. You don’t want to overdo it with bronzers because you don’t want to change the your skin tone just warm it up. I’m sure I’ve made mistakes in the past but you live and you learn. 😉

I personally recommend and use the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun! It is described as a ‘light summer peach tan’. It is one of the 15 shades in the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural line. MAC has a separate bronzer line but you can definitely use the Mineralize powders for bronzing. It’s not shimmery so it’s going to give you a very natural look. It’s also very wearable alone, over foundation, or under blushes and highlighters. In the case it looks very orange but don’t be fooled! This bronzer will give you Sun! I’m a MAC shade NC25-30 and this bronzer gives me a very natural warm color. It blends nicely and the feels very smooth to the touch.

To apply I use an angled blush brush or a tapered fluffy blush brush and buff it in on my cheeks, then up towards the side of my forehead, and also down to the jawline. Some things to remember is to build the color gradually and blend, blend, and blend. I recommend this bronzer to light, medium, and tan skin tones. I think it’s a versatile color on most skin types. If you’re lighter skin toned make sure you use very sparingly with a fan brush and blend it out.

What’s In My Makeup Bag: Weekend Trip Edition

Hey! It’s about that time to go on weekend trips during the Summer months. Even though I love makeup I really hate carrying it around when I travel. So, what do I take in my makeup bag you ask? Here’s my essential travel makeup list.

1. Sunscreen!

This is an essential for any day and occasion. Most likely you’re at a church retreat you’re going to be doing outside activities. So protect your skin UVA and UVB rays by applying sunscreen 20 mins before you head out.

2. MAC Global Glow Mineralize Skinfinish

Love this stuff. You can use this as a bronzer, highlighter, or a blush. It’s a great color on any skin tone and it just makes your skin look radiant and glowy. It’s a perfect tan color with a silver sheen so you’re not going to look orange. I usually brush it high on my cheeks up to the temples and with any remaining powder on the brush I dust it on the bridge of my nose, forehead and chin.

3. Stila Kitten Smudge Crayon

Stila Kitten eye shadow is a cult classic and it also comes in a smudge crayon form. It’s a shimmery pink nude and it’s flattering on anyone. Its great because I don’t need to carry an eye shadow brush and I can line my water line, brighten the inner corners of my eyes and accent my brown bone all with this one crayon. Just pop some color around your eye lids and with your finger blend and smudge to give your eyes a brighter look.

4. Benefit Roller Lash

I won’t need to fuss around with an eyelash curler with this mascara! A few swipes and lifted and lengthened lashes! No clumps either. You can read a detailed review here.

5. Clio Tinted Tattoo Kill Brow

Keep your #browsonfleek the whole weekend with this double ended brow pen. One side is a brow tint pen then the other side is a brow mascara to keep your brows stay in place and coat them in a natural brow color. The tint lasts about three days as long as you touch it up the next day.

6. Dior Addict Lip Glow

Moisturizing and it gives your lips a nice pinky glow. The color adjusts to the chemical of your lips, thus enhancing your natural lip color. Easy to wear and the color is flattering on everyone.

7. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

The best concealer ever! It has great coverage but it doesn’t feel thick or sticky. So you can cover spots and dark circles on the go! The wand makes it easy to cover specific areas you want.

All of this will fit in a compact makeup bag. Get packing and have a great weekend!
