leegeeham – Vita Propolis Ampoule and Cream Review

Hey everyone!

This is a review on the leegeeham Vita Propolis Ampoule and Cream. To read the Hyal B5 Ampoule and Toner review then click here! Also, these were sent to me in exchange for reviews, but rest assured my opinions are my own.

Leegeeham started and was known in the Korean cosmetic and skincare community for it’s sucessful dermatology clinic. Then over the years they started to develop their own brand of skincare. The leegeeham Grow line is one of 4 different lines they carry, but they do have also products outside of these four categories. The grow line also includes a Hyal5 face cream and cica serum and cream.

Ingredients

The main ingredients in both are 50% propolis, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract, and  Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether. Propolis revitalizes and nourishes the dull and tired skin. Portulaca Oleracea Extract soothes the skin. Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract or otherwise known as sea buckthorn and Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether are vitamins rich ingredients that brighten up the skin.

Ampoule

The ampoule is very small! It’s 15ml and comes in a small glass container with a dropper. However a little goes a long way. A few drops of the slightly viscous fluid spreads all over the face. This ampoule also contains Centella Asiatica which helps repair skin even further. The finish is not sticky, absorbs very quickly and leaves the skin super soft. I love propolis so when I read that this contained 50% I was over the moon! It costs 25,900KRW and I would highly recommend incorporating propolis to your skincare routine because it really makes your skin glow within. I love it!

Cream

The cream comes in yellow honey glass jar. Inside there is butter colored cream. The texture is more of a thick lotion. It’s slightly runny and spreads nicely without tugging and absorbs quickly. The finish is not sticky at all and my skin is left super soft. It has no greasy sheen and just leaves a subtle glow. For 50ml it costs 38,900KRW.

Last Thoughts

I absolutely would give this a two thumbs up. Great for all skin types. Having used the Hyal B5 and the Vita Propolis together it made my skin GLOW. I have tons of other skincare to review, but these products really made it hard for me to take a break after using them consistently for 3 weeks. I can’t wait to get back on it!

Thank You Farmer Miracle Age Repair Cream Review

Hey everyone!

It’s going to be fall very soon and I know some of you might be looking for a fall/winter face cream and I have a recommendation and review for you! It is the Thank You farmer Miracle Age Repair cream. This rich cream is the perfect companion as weather becomes dry and colder. I’ve actually been using this cream since mid July and my dry skin loves it!

Packaging and Texture

The Miracle Age line consists of a toner, emulsion, serum, eye cream, and face cream. The cream comes in a frosted wine colored plastic jar. The cream holds 50ml/ 1.75 of the product. The rich cream inside has a faint floral scent. The cream is rich, but not greasy. The texture is very silky and as you apply it to the face it coats the face with a creamy hydration.

Formula

It is a brightening and an anti-wrinkle line. They claim to be a pre-antiaging line so, I would think this line is a good line for mid twenties to mid thirties. The cream is formulated with argan tree kernel oil, bisabolol, sanghwang mushroom, and other natural extracts. Argan oil nourishes, bisalolol has skin-healing properties, and the sanghwang mushroom has lots of vitamin C which is good for brightening and has lots of antioxidants. It also has ‘olive-crystal emulsions’ that gives the skin extra hydration. Also it has niacinamide, adenosine, panthenol, ceramide, betaine, collagen, squalene. It does contain fragrance and PEG, so just be aware if you are allergic or easily irritated by them.

My Review

I love this cream! Like I said before it coats the skin and it absorbs quickly while leaving your skin with nice nourished glow. I don’t think that this cream had brightening effects that I could notice, but I do use a lot of brightening products. I would totally recommend this to anyone.

The Thank You Farmer products are sold in Ulta and Cult Beauty. They have an online shop in Korean at www.tyfmall.co.kr and the cream costs 45,000KRW.

These products were sent to me from the K-Beauty Expo for review purposes. My opinions are my own and 100% honest!

Complexion Enhancer – 9 Wishes Ultimate Vanishing Balm

Poof!

Hey guys! I have a new review for you, it’s the 9 Wishes Vanishing Balm. This is a tone up cream. The tone up cream has been a popular beauty product in Korea. This kind of cream provides instant whitening of the skin. Not like a BB or CC cream, but just a plain white color. I’ve tried other tone up creams and I’ve hated them! They gave me an awful white cast ad it clung to all my dry patches. It was a total flop for me. So when the K-Beauty Expo sent this product in the review bag I already had my opinions about it. Let’s get on with the review!

Packaging and Texture/Finish

The packaging is a white plastic tube with a pump attached. It contains 50ml/1.75fl oz of product. The texture is like watery cream. When you go to rub it turns into a milky liquid. It absorbs quickly and the white pigment sticks to the skin well. It moisturizes without any sticky or greasy feeling. The skin looks lighter, ‘toned up’, and the skin looks like it has a soft focus. A slightly powdered appearance.

Formulation

The cream does have a brightening and anti-wrinkle effects. It is formulated with a skin brightening complex, Botaniceutical Plus-10. A mix of natural extracts used in Korean Herbal medicine. It does contain titanium dioxide, so it is a sun protectant too. It also uses sea water which is rich in minerals. The Niacinamide and glutathione helps with whitening and brightening of the skin. There is no added fragrance so that is great!

My Review

I was actually quite impressed by this cream compared to the other tone up creams I’ve tried. It applies nicely and the white cast isn’t terrible. It’s good for those days I don’t want to wear makeup. I like the blurring effect as well, it makes it look like my skin. I’m not sure how it will look on darker skins though. I wouldn’t purchase this with my own money, I just don’t use it enough. I’m just not a big fan of these tone up creams. I will end my review saying that if you want to try a tone up cream I would recommend this one. They do have an original and glow versions. This is 44,000KRW (pricy!) and you can get this on the online mall, http://9wishes.co.kr.

This was sent to me by the K-Beauty Expo for review purposes, everything I’ve written was my own opinion.

Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Serum Review

What’s up guys!

Today’s weather in Seoul was pouring, so I decided to post up a review on the Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Serum. How perfect! I received this from the K-beauty Expo and I have been testing this out on and off for a few months now. I’ve tried out and reviewed my first TYF products, Back to Iceland cleansing line which you can read more about by clicking the link. The serum is from their True Water line. This line is specifically for hydration, but the products do have anti-wrinkle and whitening ingredients. The serum specifically has adenosine so it is a hydrating and anti wrinkle product.

Packaging

The serum comes in an airless pump dispenser, which is my preferred way for any skincare because then you don’t have to scrape it out with your fingers or a spatula, or you don’t have to do that thing where you flip it upside down to get the last bit of the product because the tube inside is too short. The container is a frosted plastic, so it looks quite nice in my opinion. You get 60ml of product which is quite a lot since for most skincare brands ranges from 30-50mls for a serum.

Formula/Texture

The main notable ingredients in serum is dioscorea japonica root extract, adenosine, and ceramide 3. These ingredients hydrate and helps with wrinkles. Other extracts include, Kava leaf/stem/root, aloe, Phellinus linteus (medicinal mushroom), burdock, green purselane, kudzu, licorice, peony root, and marsh parsley. This does contain some PEGs and PPG so if you are sensitive to these then just take caution. There is added fragrance but it is very light fresh scent. They also added blue color to it so it might not appeal to some. I don’t understand why they added it when the packaging could have been blue or something.

The texture is really strange…ermmm, unique? It is a clear viscous fluid that glides on, but it has a slight snail secretion-y texture, or kinda like clear watery glue, or think of if you snap a plant root or stem the gooey secretion that comes out. I don’t mean anything bad by saying this it’s just a very different texture than I’m used to. As you rub it in to the skin it has a slightly oily texture but not as heavy. It’s definitely not sticky but it does leave the thinnest coating on top of the skin. I personally like this feeling because I have dry skin and it feels like my skin is protected from dryness.

I will say that a little goes a long way. I only need one one pump for my whole face, two is a lot for me and It not a great feeling when the extra product is being rubbed over and over again. Also it gets sticky of you apply too much.

My verdict

It’ not a bad serum, I do like a good hydrating product and it does have anti-wrinkle effect added to it. I think it really good for all skin types, especially dry skin types. I do think sensitive skin types should take some caution because of the PEGs and the blue dye. I did really like using it this summer because it was very light, but still hydrated my skin. It’s a solid serum in my book, a 3.8 out of 5 if I had to give it a number rating. They are sold in Ulta and Cult Beauty! They have an online shop in Korean at www.tyfmall.co.kr and the serum costs 40,000KRW for 60ml/2.11 fl. oz.

Again, these products were sent to me from the K-Beauty Expo for review purposes. My opinions are my own and 100% honest!

Vanav Cover & Clean Fit – 2 in1 Makeup and Cleansing Device

Hey guys!

It has been a while! I’m back from my trip to Osaka, Japan and I am ready to sit and write a review on a very special device from Vanav. This is Korean brand that specializes in developing makeup and skincare technology. I was really lucky to receive from the K-Beauty Expo to try out the Vanav Cover & Clean Fit device. You can use this to apply your makeup and also cleanse your skin! How awesome is that? Let’s start with the specs.

Specs

First, the device comes in a orange box that contains one cleansing brush head, one makeup brush head, 6 AAA batteries, and the Cover & Clean Fit body. It great that batteries are included. It uses 3 AAA batteries and there isn’t a need to charge it. The brushes are really soft and made with good quality bristles. There are 3 vibration modes and 1 beep signals low vibration, 2 beeps is normal vibration, and 3 beeps signals the high vibration. It turns off automatically after 3 mins. You can turn it off by holding down the power button. The weight is 158g so it does have some weight. The heads are easily detachable the shorter parallel edge goes on the bottom, following the device shape.

Makeup Performance

Hmmm, what can I say… It works! It doesn’t make your foundation streaky it works with cream, stick, and liquid foundation. It’s a little tricky to get around your nose and eye area. The finished look is very nice and the vibration helps the foundation to spread out evenly. The only thing I have an issue with is that it makes my nose tickle so much! The best way to use it is to let the skin feel the vibration rather than pressing it down onto the skin. It’s less work for me because I can just glide the brush without having to tap and blend a hundred times. It’s also gentle since I’m not rubbing the brush down on the skin. You can use this concealer, cream contour, and even cream blusher.

Cleansing Performance

This is a great tool to use during a second cleanse. First cleanse would be to take the makeup off and then go in with a foam cleanser and spread the foam over the skin and massage and wipe away the foam with the cleansing brush head with the desired vibration. You can also squeeze some of the cleansing product on the brush head and wet skin and cleanse that way without doing a first cleanse. This way it creates the bubbles on the skin. I really really liked it as a cleansing tool, much more than I did a makeup one. I’m just more finicky with how I like to apply my makeup.

Overall

This gets a two thumbs up from me! I does what it says and performed really well. The price is a bit steep 148,000KRW, but still much cheaper than others similar beauty tools on the market. I like how you can use the device in the bathroom and then take it to the vanity. You can learn more on the Vanav website at www.Vanav.co.kr. They have four other devices and their newest device UP5 looks so cool! I really want to try that in the future.

Thank you for joining me in this review and I hope you will come back to read my next review soon! Again, this product was sent to me by the K-Beauty Expo as their beauty editor, all opinions are my own as always. Thanks for reading.

Kiss NY Air, Magic, and Wave – BOOM Goddess Hair!

Guess what?

Good hair days are ahead.

I am going to be reviewing three Kiss New York hair tools. The Insta Air, Insta Wave, and Insta Magic. Most people know that Kiss is makes a whole bunch of beauty products. They have reputation for making some pretty decent stuff at a drugstore price, so I will get right in to the review.

batch_DSC01593

InstaAir 360

batch_DSC01582

The highlight of this hair dryer is the heat distribution air booster. What is is an rotating attachment? This helps distribute the heat evenly and prevents the risk of heat spot damage. Also the rotating nozzle keeps you from shaking the hair dryer around. The slats where the air comes out is coated with ceramic tourmaline which emit non-damaging infrared heat and negative ions, making the heat much gentler on the hair during styling for a shinier and less frizzy finish. It also enables the hair to endure much higher levels of heat without creating damage. The wattage is 1600 so it’s a good hair dyer to use at home. Other specs include adjustable cold/ high/low settings.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So, does it work? I used to own a really crappy hair dryer so this was a huge upgrade. The air booster does work, but don’t expect a lot. It does blow air around nicely and I don’t have to shake it around as much as I did. My hair did seem to get an even amount of heat. They give you a second heat concentrate attachment as well. As for the frizziness, I couldn’t really tell because my hair is already frizzy from color/bleach damage, however the top part of my hair felt smoothed out. Two cons are that it is loud and a bit on the heavy side with the tornado 360 attachment. I think for the price, 29,000KRW, this a more than decent hair dryer. I really enjoy using it and does what it claims to do.

InstaMagic

batch_DSC01586

The special thing about the Insta Magic is that has a thin strip of silicone on the heat plates. The silicone is to cushion the hair from direct contact with the heated plates and smoothes out the cuticles. Well, not sure how my hair won’t touch the heating plates… but I think the idea is that my hair won’t be smooshed between two extremely hot plates, therefore less hair damage.

batch_DSC01587.JPG

Other specs include high heat up to 230 degree Celsius, controlled and stable het control. ceramic coated plates, floating plates that wont leave edge marks, and auto shut off after 60 mins. The LED turns green when ready, only takes 30 secs to reach maximum temp.

batch_DSC01577
Straightened with InstaMagic vs. blow dried with InstaAir 360

I have used so many straighteners in my life. I can’t complain. It has all the necessary functions and more. It doesn’t fry my hair and static-less. It straightens my hair like magic! I do wish it was a little bit longer so that I could grab more hair with it. Other than that, this is a fine hair tool. This one is a bit pricy for 59,000KRW.

InstaWave

batch_DSC01590

This was the most exciting for me because I have never owned a automatic hair curler! I’ve always wanted to get the Babyliss Curl Secret that sucks in your hair and curls it, but it was too expensive. The InstaWave is has the same idea where the curl dial rotates either to the left or right, depending on the direction you want your curl to go. You can also choose the type of curl you want. For loose curls heat for 3-5 seconds, medium curls release at the beep, and for spirals release the hair 3-5 seconds after the beep. To release all you do is pull down the wand. Just as the InstaMagic it the want is coated with ceramic, high temperature of 230 degress Celsius, auto shut off after 60 mins.

batch_DSC01592

If you get this READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Dangly earrings and necklaces are a no no. Also, you should do this with dry and brushed hair. If you don’t brush it there is a chance that it can get tangled. They give you a volume brush attachment for short hair. I tried it on a small section of my long hair and I’ll just say use it only if you have short hair because my hair almost got tangled in the combs.

batch_DSC01591

There is a learning curve with this one. You need to get use to it. Once I did I was able to curl my hair really quickly. The curls came out nicely but for me it was hard to get an even head of the same style of curls. I don’t think it was because of the curler itself, but me not being used to using this kind of curler. It was fun and I was a little nervous. However, after doing a couple curls it became easier. I wish that they would have placed the heat dial not so close to the button because I kept moving the dial accidentally.

batch_DSC01581

I think for those who aren’t so great at using a regular curler this might be a better way to get nice curls. But for those who know who to curl and style their hair a little bit restricted, even though you can choose the direction and tightness of the curl. It might be better to use a regular curler. I do like how quickly and easily it create curls. I would totally recommend this to the curler challenged people out there. This one costs 53,000KRW.

Angelic Glow Drops! Estee Lauder Micro Essence Review

Hey guys!

I hope you are having a fabulous month of May. I recently finished a bottle of the Estee Lauder Micro Essence and I asked on my Instagram if you would want a review, and many of you did so here I am ready to tell you what I think about it! I got it as a gift a from a beauty creator class I did a while back, but I have no direct sponsorship with Estee Lauder so I will be plain and honest, as usual! Shall we?

Packaging

The bottle is shaped like a Toblerone chocolate box that tapers down (do like that description? LoL.) It’s made of glass, so it has some weight. The glass is also frosted so it has that luxurious feel to it and it comes with a plastic gold spin-off cap, which I think kind of clashes with the luxurious look. Also, the inside of the cap can get a bit gunky so give it a wipe here and then.

Key Features, Ingredients, and Texture

This essence is said to reveal your skin’s ‘youthful, angelic glow’. Who doesn’t want that? So how does that work… First, it is micro targeted meaning that it penetrates deeply and rapidly within skin’s surface to renew and re-balance. It is micro nourishing because it delivers a precise concentration of exclusive Micro-Nutrient Bio-Ferment to nourish and energize. Lastly, it is micro active because it activates multiple natural pro-youth abilities to replenish skin.

The ingredients list is not bad, lots of skin conditioning ingredients like butylene glycol, betaine, pentylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, as well as trehalose. The fermented ingredient is Lactobacillus Ferment. For those of you who don’t know fermented ingredients can help with various skin troubles such as dryness, pigmentation, fine lines, and help with anti-aging.

The texture if almost like water but it is a little more viscous and has more slip and doesn’t dry off as quickly. There is no fragrance other than a tinge of fermented sourness. The smell is not as bad as SK2, that one on an off day smells so bad to me.

last remaining angelic glow drops!

My Thoughts and Mini Comparison

After finishing the whole bottle, I have to say that I miss using it! After cleansing I would pat this all over and it would make my skin feel so soft and smooth. Over time I felt my skin more hydrated and prepped for my other serums and creams. Also, because it isn’t as watery like the SK2 it was perfect for my dry skin. It didn’t leave a sticky feeling either. The IOPE Bio Essence skin conditioner has the consistency between EL and SK2. This one absorbed much faster than the Micro Essence. For me I really liked the Micro Essence much more than I did SK2. The SK2 had a tingly feeling every time I put it on, and one time I put it on as a cotton pad mask and my skin flipped out and got very red. With the Micro Essence there weren’t any problems. However, I am still on the fence about trying the Pitera essence one more time, it’s just so damn expensive. The Bio Essence was okay nothing amazing, but much more budget friendly than the EL and SK2.

The pricing –

Conclusion

Yes, I would totally recommend this to anyone! I didn’t have any irritation or flare-ups while using it and the results are really good. I don’t think I’ll buy it at full Korean price, so if I can find on sale I am ready to swipe my card. I am also thinking of purchasing the Su:m37 Secret Programming Essence and the MISSHA Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence.

What are your favorite first treatment essences?

The Essence of Nature – Foot Patch Review

Hi guys! I am here with a special review for you today. It not really beauty related but it’s more of a well-being and health product. I received these foot patches from K-Beauty EXPO, which I am working as one of their K-beauty editors. I was a little surprised when I got them because it’s not something that I expected as a K-beauty product. Anyway, I’m still glad that I got them because I know that I would never buy this on my own.

There are six different types of foot patches: Rose, lavender, forest, warm, eucalyptus, and bamboo. Yes, I tried all of them! These patches are made to help relax, refresh and re-energize your body. Kind of like aromatherapy for your foot. It didn’t say detox anywhere on the box, I’m guessing because I’ve researched that there were some false claims about how some foot patches brands can draw out toxins. Anyway, these patches recommend that you use it after playing sports or hiking, standing for long periods of time, or after wearing heels. It says that it helps relieve tension in your foot.

Each box comes with 10 patches/5 pairs. The sachets are packed individually, probably to prevent the smell from fading. You have to attach these sachets to the sticker provided in the center and then you stick them on your foot. Easy! They say that it’s best if you put this on before you sleep. The next morning you peel it off and you can witness the shockingly brown goo that is saturated the sachet pad. It’s pretty gross looking, to be honest, and it would be nice to think that the brown discoloration was caused by the toxins that it drew out, but that’s not quite the case. I think it’s just the sweat that moistens the powder and it turns it that color. You should also wash or wipe after you’ve taken it off. We got the technical stuff out of the way now here’s what I think. Did I feel any different? I really didn’t feel any different. Maybe I slept better, but it could be a placebo effect. I did like the aroma on some of the patches. I don’t think I would purchase them for myself, but if you have trouble sleeping or you are very active and have to stand up for long periods of time, I would suggest that you try it at least. You can visit their website for further info.

Rose patch – I loved the rose smell! It’s so relaxing to me.

This one has rose oil, wood vinegar, agaricus (mushroom species), eucalyptus oil, mugwort extract, and vitamin C.

Eucalyptus patch – I also loved the refreshing smell. It is said that it improves concentration! Good for pre-exam or meeting days.

This one has eucalyptus oil, wood vinegar, agaricus, tourmaline*, chitosan, and vitamin C.

*Natural ore from Brazil. It is effective in generating the minus-ion and improving the blood circulation of the body by the far-infrared ray effect. (Taken from brand website)

Lavender patch – Also smells wonderful! Lavender helps relieve tension and aids sleep.

This one has lavender oil, wood vinegar, agaricus (mushroom species), eucalyptus oil, mugwort extract, and vitamin C.

Warm patch – This one to me smells like a heater… in a good way! Like a woody warm scent. Also this one heats up a little. After I took it off it felt weird because it felt warm but my foot was cool to the touch. Great for winter.

This one has agaricus (mushroom species), tourmaline, chitosan, eucalyptus oil, loquat extract, and vitamin C.

Forest patch – This one has the same smell as the warm patch. Meh and I think the most basic out of the six.

This one has wood vinegar, chitosan, pure silica, mugwort extract, and herb powder.

Bamboo patch – this one has the same smell too… also the same ingredients list… hm.

This one has wood vinegar, chitosan, pure silica, mugwort extract, and herb powder.

Would you guys ever try this? If you have already tried it, did you feel any different? I’m so curious to know what you guys think!

NEW 2017 IOPE AIR CUSHION – Cover Review

Hey folks! Having a great day? I hope so! I am finally sitting down to write a review on the 2017 new IOPE Air Cushion! Last year IOPE released their 3rd generation of the cushions. Last year’s line included 4 different types – moisture lasting, intense cover, natural, and matte long wear. There were 5 different shades available 13, warm/natural 21, and warm/natural 23. This shade system was to make everything much easier but from the comments that I got on my old post, it made people even more confused about what color to get (sorry for not responding to some of your shade questions!) I think IOPE realized the confusion and they revamped the whole shade system which I will get into later. So last year I bought the matte long wear and this time I bought the cover version. They got rid of the moisture lasting and natural glow and replaced it with cover and natural. That was a loaded intro, so let me break it down now!

batch_DSC00730Packaging and Cushion

So the packaging is the same for the intense cover and matte long wear, but for the cover and natural cushion, they changed the color to a silvery pearl base and a mirrorball-holo face. It’s so pretty!!! I just like having it on my desk and look at it like a weird makeup-obsessed-Gollum creature that I am. My preciousssss…! The ring that goes around the rim is silver and the intense cover is the only one with a rose gold ring. The cushion inside is different than the IC (intense cover) and MLW (matte long wear). The circular nodes are a little bigger and porous. The reasoning behind it is that the bigger 3D circles pump more hydrating ingredients so that your skin is more moisturized. I really don’t know if that is scientifically proven, but sure, okay. I don’t really feel a great difference, but because the holes in the circular cells are bigger, the easier it is for the hydrating liquids to surface. That’s how I am interpreting their idea. While the smaller cells in the IC and MLW cushions offer a light and even stippling effect.

batch_DSC00736Smell and Formula

The cushion is SPF50+/PA+++, whitening, and anti-wrinkle. The scent is same as last years cushion from what I remember, an overall fresh with a slight powdery after smell. The main formula for the cover and natural cushion is a mix of IOPE’s trademarked Bio water, trehalose, a moisture-retaining ingredient, and 3D prism pearl. This combo creates a trademarked formula called Air prism water. The formula is very hydrating and not at all oily or greasy feeling. When you apply it has a very fresh moist feeling and then it dries down to a comfortable to wear texture. Also, there isn’t any visible shimmer, pearlescence, or glitter so you can be assured that you won’t actually look like a disco ball. Just a glowy ball 🙂

batch_DSC00742Finish and Wear

The finish is a glowy finish but it looks very natural and not greasy looking. For my dry skin, it looks SO GOOD! The glow is very long lasting as well. The coverage is not a very high coverage, up to medium coverage. For redness, red spots, and dark circles you need a bit of help from a concealer. But as for freckles and things it gives a nice thin layer of coverage. As it dries and throughout the day it wears nicely without much fading. I could go all day without any touch ups and still look okay. It also doesn’t accentuate the pores and fine lines a lot, but I do powder up under the eyes and nose area, for extra coverage and lasting wear. I would give the finish a 5/5, coverage a 4/5, and wear 4.5/5.

batch_DSC00745Shades

The shades are, I hope/think, much easier to figure out than last years. Ther are 4 shades 13 ivory, 21 cool vanilla (brighter, pinker 21), 21 vanilla (natural yellow toned 21 shade), and  23 beige (yellow toned 23). I bought the 23 beige and compared to the shade, 23W, I got last year it’s a bit toned down and less light. I can get away with wearing it, the last IOPE cushion I gave away to my mom because after I reviewed it, I felt it was a bit too light for me in the summer and it would be too dry for me in any other season. The beige 23 is a shade lighter than my MAC NC30 skin. I wish they’d came out with a 25 like other brands are doing these days.

batch_DSC00727Final Thoughts

Overall I really like this one much better than the matte long wear I bought last year, it suits my dry skin and I really love the natural glowy finish. For 42,000KRW (about 36USD) you get the case with the cushion and puff and an extra refill with a puff. What do you think about this generation of the IOPE Air Cushion? Do you think you will try it? Thanks for reading!

💨🙅🏻🌫Pollution Cushion – Pony Effect Defense Longwear Cushion Foundation Review

Hi guys! Last week Seoul had the second worst air quality ever! My skin, throat, lungs, eyes, and nose were all congested. The air quality is a little better because of the rain today, but dust season and pollution will be here to stay in busy little Seoul. So why am I talking about air quality and pollution? It’s because I am reviewing the newest cushion from Pony Effect! The Defense Longwear Cushion was released mid-March and it was a perfect time to test this out on the high pollution days like last week.

DSC00507

I bought this on the Memebox app which I uncontrollably look through every hour or so. I bought it while it was on promotion and got a small discount and a free mirror (wahoo!) The retail price is 42,000KRW (about 37.00USD). The cushion comes with a refill with an extra puff. The packaging is a thinnish square compact with a prismatic silver coating. It’s very pretty under the light however, the coating is a bit thin so mine is already a little scratched up around the corners. The puff is a spongey type very squishy and flexible. I like the puff, but don’t be fooled about the amount of product it absorbs! One weak dab on the cushion and it looks like you need to dab some more, but the product is already sucked into the sponge.

DSC00513

Pony also released new darker shades so I jumped to get my hands on a cushion that matched my skin tone. Sand was the color I got it’s supposed to be for tanned skin *laughs* and in the tradition of Korean skin color numbers this is number 25. It’s still a half shade lighter than my natural skin tone. It has a yellowy-faintly peach undertone so if you’re on the cool dark tone side then this color, no matter how ‘dark’ it is, will not look good on you. For me, it was fine but still not a perfect match. I do appreciate the brand for looking out for darker Asian skin girls like me.

There is a light herbally-floral scent which goes away after application. The formula is very thin but if you layer it on it can look like a medium coverage foundation. It covers 40% if my dark circles and 50% redness from pimples. The cushion is whitening, has wrinkle care, and is SPF 50+/PA+++. Also it has been tested on the absorption of dust onto the skin with a special Arabian Cotton complex that has large amounts of Phyto-chemical that defends the skin from outside pollutants. I really can’t tell the difference if it’s really defending my skin from dust, but it hasn’t irritated my skin so that’s a good sign. It also has lotus flower extract to revitalize tired skin.

The finish is not matte and at first, it starts with a soft satiny glow but later after 4-5 hours it drys down. The cushion isn’t very hydrating for dry skin types like myself, it felt and looked dry. This also transferred to clothing easily and settled into fine lines, so longevity was not very good. It does accentuate dry patches so exfoliating is a must if you are going to put this on! I did find some success in wetting the sponge first and it felt a bit more hydrating-ish. With this one, I have to fix it regularly or it made my skin look old.

This is 3 hours after application. It looks like the end of the day…

Overall, would I repurchase? N to the O, no! It’s was really mediocre and it’s not the best for my dry skin.  This was my first Pony Effect cushion and even thought this wasn’t a showstopper for me I wonder how the other two cushions compare. If I do purchase the other two I’ll write a comparison review!
