My Purple Tale -Once Upon a Neck Cream- Story

Hey all! I’m just gonna get into it okay? I was asked to review a product from the Purple Tale skincare line and I chose to review the Once Upon a Neck Cream, cute name right? Before I go any further, Purple Tale is a Korean skincare brand that harmoniously  incorporates eastern and western skincare ingredients to make their products. I believe it’s a fairly new brand, so I was excited to see what their products were like.

I got the cream about 2 weeks ago and I have been using the cream every night before going to bed. Sometimes I used it would use it both day and at night. I will say upfront that I don’t have a pretty neck. I have eczema in this area so there is a patch of skin that get very dry, flakey, and discolored. I knew that my neck was a very neglected part of my skin care routine, even though it was a problem area of mine. I figured that by reviewing this cream I would force myself to take care of my neck ha ha ha. batch_DSCF9954

The packaging is very cute, it comes in a cylindrical cardboard box and inside you get the cream and a plastic spatula. It feels a little more special than a regular box. The cream has a whipped texture and it’s very light and it has a light sweet floral scent. The active ingredients are Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Penapeptide-4, and Ginsenosides. I can tell you off the bat that Centella and Ginseng are the eastern ingredients and the peptides are the western ones. Centella has been used in Asian medicine for thousands of years to treat wounds, skin problems like eczema and psoriasis to name a couple. Modern science has shown that this plant helps wounds heal faster and promote collagen synthesis. Ginseng is an antioxidant ingredient that helps nourish and restore the skin. All of the peptides boost collagen and helps with anti-aging.

At first I was a little afraid of using it because of my eczema. I’ve used so many creams that would irritate the crap out it and make it worse. Anyway, I put it on and it stung a little because I had open scratch marks, but there wasn’t any irritation afterwards. The cream absorbs into the skin really nicely and quickly. It’s not sticky or greasy, so you don’t have to worry about getting it on your clothes or feeling uncomfortable after you’ve applied it. Did I see any results? First, I’m not that old, so the skin around my neck isn’t saggy. I do have some wrinkles which I feel will get deeper if I don’t start taking care of it now. I have seen a very big difference in the skin texture, it feels more supple and smooth. The scratches on my neck heals much faster than if I didn’t put anything on it. As for the wrinkles it’s too early to say. However I do feel good that I’m doing something to prevent my wrinkles from forming even deeper. I’m looking forward to seeing how much my neck will look after I use up all of the cream.

This product is definitely not a short fairy tale, it’s a journey with a happy ending. Like the the ugly duckling, it didn’t instantly become a swan, it had to wait to become the swan with a beautiful neck. That’s gonna be me after a few more weeks! You can buy this cream for 39.99USD on their website. In Korea it’s 55,000KRW and you can buy it here.
